The story 10 Dates: A fun and sexy romantic comedy novel by Emily James is a humorous romance book. Joanie Fox’s best friend begins an intervention when Joanie’s engagement to her current boyfriend goes south. It involves 10 Dates in 10 Days. What a concept! The thinking is that there has to be one that is not too bad. What happens next had me laughing so hard that I almost fell off my couch while holding my side. Will this approach work for Joanie? Will she finally find her true love?

This is the first book I have read by the author and I have to say she has created a book that I am sure to read over and over. It is just too good not to. Not only is the laugh factor above a 10, it also gives me a good reason to turn down the next blind date that my best friend sets me up on. Most of the dates that Joanie ends up on are so over the top. Let’s just say that I will not be going on a date on the internet, ever. I really felt for Joanie as she is trying to find someone however it just doesn’t seem that the dates her best friend sets her up on are working. I love Joanie’s character. She is a sassy woman who seems to not be able to find Mr. Right. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of confidence in herself in regards to relationships and believes that she will grow old alone. I also found a lot of humor in her interactions with her neighbors. The bantering back and forth between Joanie and her friends shows their deep friendship and is another reason that this book had me laughing so hard. Read this book to find out if Joanie finally finds her HEA! This book does have some mature themes and sexual content. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

Joanie, known in the novel as FOUR, has problems with her roommate Chris. He leaves to New York from London to find his future without her - the background story.

Because of the circumstances and her best friend Melinda's concerns, Joanie agrees to go on ten dates that Melinda has set up for her. These dates are when the fun begins.

However, another person who is hot becomes a distraction - SIX.
FOUR and SIX refer to Joanie and his apartment number. The closeness and their bumping into each other become too close for comfort - love is in the air or is it just SEX.

Joanie and her friends, Melinda, and Mikey (Not Melinda's husband) are 'family.' The way SIX intermingles with the dates and the group is funny and enjoyable.

Emily James has put together a fun book - the characters are well defined, and the chatter, sarcasm, of them all, keep the story moving at a good pace. It's a one sitting read.
10 Dates, by Emily James, is a fun and sexy comedic romance novel. This is the first book book I have read by this author. Author note “10 Dates is a standalone, sexy, laugh out loud romantic comedy with a happy ending. It is not for the feint hearted and is best suited for readers over the age of eighteen due to sexual themes and mature content.”

This story was a great read. Joanie Fox is on a mission, 10 Dates in 10 Days trying to find the man of her dreams after a series of failed dates and/or relationships. I wish I could give this story 10 golden stars because I believe it ranks high above many romantic comedies I have read in the past. It is seriously funny and some of the banter that goes back and forth between characters is down right beyond hilarious.

The author has created a perfectly astounding story for Joanie on her uproarious journey to find lasting love. Starting with Date #1 through Date #10, you honestly don't know which one will survive. Joanie has two friends pushing her forward with these dates that have issues of their own, but they stand firm in their support of Joanie and finding her what she deserves and needs in her life.

Joanie comes across as a strong woman in this story, but through her 10 dates, she finds out more about herself and what she truly wants from a man that has staying power in her life. As you read this story, if you don't laugh in regards to the dates Joanie gets pulled into... your funny bone may very well be broken.
10 Dates is hardly the first novel to use "looking for love in all the wrong places" plot, and it wasn't the best either. But it was competently written with some good moments.

Joanie Fox wanted to settle down and marry the man she had been living with for years. He kept saying he'll marry her after the dating app launched. It's been TWO YEARS since it launched. On the night of the company party, instead of announcing his proposal to her, he instead announced he's jetting off the New York to sell the app to the Yanks. When her BF just packed a bag and left, Joanie wanted to just sleep in her bed and sulk. Her friends staged an intervention... on a scale enough to make anyone cringe... 10 Dates in 10 Days. And the results... won't be pretty. But there is one guy, her next door neighbor in apartment number six, that makes her heart go peter-patter. Too bad he isn't interested... or is he? Will she even survive all ten dates?

Definitely a good bit of rom-com, and some of the scenes are LOL funny, but not to the scale of the masterpieces, like OPERATION DATE ESCAPE. Still, it's quite good.
